Online Booksellers – Are you using Dropbox yet?

June 9, 2011

One of the several tools I find most useful when listing books is Dropbox.  Dropbox is a free service that allows you to store photos, docs, and videos anywhere. This means that any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to your home computer, work computer, smart phone, iPad and the Dropbox Web site.  And it is free!

I scan a lot of my book covers to enhance my listings.  Storing the scans in Dropbox allows me to add them to my listings when I have time, and from whatever computer I am using at the time.  I don’t need to be hooked to my scanner.  If I’m out looking for new books and scan ISBNs, I can store those scans in Dropbox until I can use them.   If a customer wants additional photos of a book, I can put them into a folder in Dropbox and share the folder.  If I want to work collaboratively or share a file with a coworker, yup, you guessed it.   They back up the files, safe and secure, and allow me to access them from both my Windows and Mac machines.  This is honestly the one little gem I tell my friends about so I thought it long past time to share it with my readers.  Try it!  You won’t be sorry.
